About the Potter: Working with primarily functional forms in various clay bodies, Craig brings a rich color palette to his ware with a wide variety of glazes and glazing techniques. With a masters' degree in ceramics, Craig has been working at his craft for over 40 years. The work employs a variety of forms, textures, glazes, glazing techniques fired in both electric and gas kilns. Craig's work is shown in his studio located in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois as well as locally at The Aphrodite Gallery in Paducah, Ky. At present, arrangements to buy work can be made through email or phone. |
Artist's statement: While I like controlling the process up to a point, I also enjoy using the element of serendipity in my glazes. I surrender some control to the fire god. Each piece is one of a kind, even when they come as sets. Therefore the photos on the web site are of work that is ongoing and constantly changing. For the most part, shapes and sizes can be repeated but the color variance cannot since the glaze colors will vary from piece to piece and from firing to firing. The work is lead free, microwave safe and oven proof. All work is high fired to around 2300 degrees except where noted. |
